Seriously though, Italy has one of the strictest National Heritage organisations in the World (it's called Sovrintendenze Beni Culturali and they report to their very own Ministry). Try and ask the local  Italian Cultural Centre just how many "masterpieces" are hosted in Italy, you'll be surprised.
