  1. Mary was not black and neither was Jesus. They were middle eastern. If they had been black it would have certainly been noted in the Bible. Instead, the Bible says that there was nothing special about Jesus' appearence.

  2. Lies, d**n Lies, and Catholicism.

  3. That's hearsay. Religious Art did not exist until 300 years after Christ.Even so, the Person known as Jesus back then was a Human while on earth, he now is a Spirit.

  4. The Polish say so, and the Orthodox say one of their icons was, too.  The jury's out on both.  Icons aren't meant to be photographs, just reminders of the people they portray.

  5. no i havent heard of it....no links?

    she was jewish really

  6. Mary was Jewish.

We don't know anything about the color of her skin.

Oil paint did not exist until 1200 years later.

Photography would not be invented until 1800 years later.

  7. My daughter once went to a Lutheran convention in New Orleans... she came back and asked me if Jesus was black...

I told her that if there were a Jesus, he most certainly was not white.

  8. Do you know the difference between legend and reality?

  9. Oh.

  10. Do you have any creditable sources to back up your claim?  As far as I know "The Black Madonna" was not painted by St Luke, at least not the disciple Luke.

    Edit:

It wasn't even painted by the author of the Gospel of Luke who was an entirely different person from the disciple.

  11. Every culture has their own conception of Jesus. I've seen pictures of a church in Scandinavia where Jesus had curly blond hair & blue eyes. Jesus would have looked much like the average Middle Eastern man.
