I've been wanting to tell people about this for years, and just thought of YA.

Back in 1989 I inquired about my credit score. And was slamed with calles and mail on old accounts.

So unless your ready to settle the accounts, dont call.

Also, anytime you call an 800 number about an add, always dial *69 first. companies have computerised phone systems that puts you on a calling list. Sometimes you will even get a message stating they will not except annonomuse calls.

I dont think the credit co. should be able to sell your info to collection agencys when your trying to check your credit score. Or at lease let you know before you call. And advertisers should give you an option whether to add your number to there calling list.

Have you made these calls? What happend? Did you get slamed with calls?

  1. Thanks for posting and NO I didnt know this until the bank people warned my son about it.

Tammy, This is valuable information that NEEDS to be out there!!

I think you may have posted this to the wrong catagory. The corporate world is prob well aware of what you are trying to warn people about, as they RELY on this system to collect debts and drum up business. That explains your lack of responses so far. I would STRONGLY suggest that you repost this information in these places, as these are the folks who NEED this information.

    society &culture ---community service

    entertainment & music---polls & surveys

education & reference --- financial aid

If you dont want to blow that many points posting, just click on my avatar and shoot me an email to let me know. "I" will GLADLY post this info, because as you already know I dont care about points. I DO believe this info needs to be out there though, so either repost or give me the go ahead to post your info!! Thanks for the heads up!!!  I am giving you a star so at least my mormon related friends will see this. Hope this helps. For what its worth, we avoided this little trap ONLY because my son went through the bank to get his credit score. The bank people told him about it just in the nick of time because I was going to do it that night wnen he got home. That was 3 yrs ago and I doubt things have changed since then!! Laterzzz
