yup, apparently my nan was hooked on things called 'purple hearts', and my mum used to take slimming pills that had her getting up at 6 in the morning and the whole house would be spotlessly clean by the time the rest of us got up!

Such a shame they caught on and banned them, could do with some of that myself now! ;-)

yes I 'm 60 and my granny O-D'd on Dr Collis Brownes cough mixture which had morphine in it - you could also get kaolin and morphine mixture for diarrhea - My mum was on speed she used to bang into doors chew gum and do all her housework at top whizz, talk fast and forever  and say earnestly  that she would know if us kids were taking drugs because she had read the signs in the daily mirror.

yes back in the days when we had harmless family fun.
