It seems so very popular worldwide.

Although a draw back is that it does work very slowly sometimes when viewing friends' updates.

But why change it if it is not broken?

  1. Yahoo is closing and opening a new social network.

And the fact is Yahoo 360 is a Beta and was started as a testing thing.

The 360 was not working as great and there was a constant fixing of the bugs in that system. More trouble then what they wanted.

Everyone love 360 and some just figured there were not that many bugs but it was, and Yahoo has been on their toes trying to fix the bugs,

So the new network is going to be like 360 and a little of Mash ( Mash is not the new network)

This new network is far better the 360. So l was told. No one knows for sure when it will be here or what it will look like. There was no screen shot on it yet.

And 360 was really a mess trying to keep it working.

l am excited about the new network and l feel we will all be pleased with it. l hope it has some of the codes that Mash has because you can more module around and use glitter graphics in comments and the CSS code for backgrounds are great. So l am hoping for some of that

  2. lets hope they put something better in its place ????

  3. Yahoo 360 is a great product that has been so poorly marketed that not even most Yahoo members no it exists. That's why it isn't making Yahoo much money. I don't want them to close 360. They should just change the name to something like Youhoo and advertise it more.

  4. Yes, I know and yes, I think I know why. Actually, the service is very broken. I like the concept and layout, but the majority of the actual features do not work properly for most people.

Competition, bugs, and centralization. The platform of 360 has to be more flexible to allow more functionality to compete with other social networking services (like Facebook and Myspace - regardless of the target audience). Yahoo! 360 is a beta service, meaning in testing, so it's continued existence was always a shaky proposition as it never moved out of the beta phase. There were a ridiculous amount of glitches with various modules. Yahoo has a different challenge than other services as it not only does social networking, but it also tries to connect Y!360 with other Yahoo services (like Yahoo!Groups, Flickr, etc.). The connectivity hasn't been successful for the most part. Yahoo has several profiling services that basically have the same purpose (telling people about yourself), so they are trying to create one "universal profile" for users.

Yahoo! 360 is shutting down in a sense sometime within early 2008, as the new system will likely no longer be called Yahoo! 360. But the point is that there will still be a social networking service that includes built-in blogging functionality for Yahoo users (which will use the same platform as the other social-networking service - Y!Mash, but will not be Y!Mash as we know it now).
