Did you know you were dilated?

Question

I was just wondering if any women had any signs that you were dilated? And where you surprised when the doctor told you you were dilating? and how dilated where you?I have heard women have been 5cm and did not even know it.

I didnt know how much I had dilated, all I knew is I was having contractions. Didn't even know if these were dilating me as some don't. I got checked and I was 7 1/2 cm. I was impressed!

Nope, no idea i was dilated.  At my 37 week appt my doctor told me i was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced.  My daughter was born less then a week later.  I think I arrived at the hospital at 4cm and i had no idea i was that far.  I wasn't having contractions either but my water had broke.

No . when i went into labor i didn't know all i knew is that i was being hard headed  because i didn't  have cervix pains. I had back labor. and i didn't know you could have back labor. And yes I was 2cm dilated and i was in shock when  I found out.

Yeah I heard of that two... 5 CM and they didn't even know CRAZY! Well I was 1 CM for about 2 weeks and then I went into labor and they checked me and I was 2 CM and OMG I was already crying the contractions hurt so bad and were coing every 2-3 mins. But I did not know I was dilated, my doctor told me and I barely noticed. I was very suprised. I was so excitied and thought within a couple days I would have my baby. BUT I was wrong. You can be dilated for a month and have nothing happen. Best of luck

yes, when i went into labor i had no clue i was dilated, when i got to the hospital i was 4cm, i was schocked

with my first child i was feeling pain down there so i went to the hospital and right when i got there my water broke and i was at 10cm.

Before labor I only dilated 1 cm, but I did have a feeling that maybe I was getting close because my mucus plug started being excreted. Sometimes, though, you don't know.

At my 38 week appointment with my second child, my doctor was shocked that I hadn't been having any contractions because I was a 5+. I had no idea that I was dilated to a 5+, (I had been dilated to a 2+ for a couple weeks before that.) So, he sent me straight to the hospital and I delivered 3 hours later.

Dilation is not known to mothers to be. Only an experienced doctor can feel it and make out.

Nope. Couldn't feel a thing. HOWEVER, was totally aware when the contractions came......

that would be nice to go check and you're 5 cm and not know. you really cant tell but could maybe think you are. like for me i walked aloottt and few days later went to appointment and dr told me i was dilated another cm.. kinda was hoping be alittle more but 1cm good.

i knew few people that was having real contractions or even in labor and never knew.. cuz they didnt get the real pains that you read about.. just normal things or the one that was in labor like head was pretty much almost coming she thought it was gas farting and smelly farts didnt think much of it goes to her appointment n gets sent to hospital asap.

You can't feel the dialation happening but you do feel the contractions that cause dialation. (well most women do.) I was 2 months away from giving birth and at my appointment my dr. told me I was 2cm already. I had no idea and I was surprised. I stayed that 2cm until 5 days after my son was due. Yea you do not know when you are dialated until your dr. tells you you are.
