  1. It's very subtle and not likely what you expect.

Censorship laws were strict back then so the violence and sexuality is more implied then it would be in a newer book.

I liked it, it is a classic.

  2. Dracula is one of my favorite books. It's very well written. As another answerer commented the sexuality and violence are much more subtle than one finds in more modern literature (but that's part of what makes it so brilliant).

The religious undertones are very important and I highly advise reading the novel alongside sparknotes or notes from gradesaver.com so that you don't miss anything. A large part of the horror of this novel is in the religious symbolism and how Dracula is an abomination and blasphemy against Christianity.

  3. I've read it several times and really enjoyed it.  Read it now, it's not a very long book, and worth the time. It really brought the uptight Victorian attitudes to the forefront.

  4. Yes, I liked it. You have to place it in it's time, it's not a modern book. I really liked it though, very atmospheric and also romantic.
