I thought it was lame and cheap. It's like they did it at the last minute. "Lets put our famous bus with our famous singer on top of it and get it over with."

The sound was horrendous as well. I only understood one word, which was "love." That's all.

And what's with the stairs to nowhere? No conclusion whatsoever. Horrible choreography.

I apologize if you're from London.

  1. It looked like the theme was retro grunge. If that's the route they take, I hope to see more "retro" and less "grunge". I thought the bus was cute, but the people waiting for it looked homeless. Maybe London is making a statement with that, but it wasn't really a nice thing.

  2. It was a vague attempt to show that "They are in touch with the younger generations", hence that horrid logo and the reality tv show winner singing Led Zeppelin - badly.

Thankfully they still have 4 years to realise that their efforts to prove that they are in touch just show how far out of touch they really are. It just wasn't thought through very well.

  3. The stairs to nowhere was probably the 'Stairway to Heaven' a nod to  Jimmy Page... Just a wild guess though.

  4. It sucked bad, to be expected though.

  5. I don't like London's performance at the beijing's Olympics because it was too insignificant compared to the grand ones organised by the chinese. London's perfomance was more like an extended theatrical play from west end. More of a theatrical play than to a closing ceremony type of events which should be on a grand scale sine event was held at the bird's nest which incidentally is a huge ground for the olympic ceremony.

Darn cheap performance; not well prepared. Came in a slip-shot manner. Not impressive at all. It did not fit in the the grand events done up by the Chinese.

  6. i didn't really like the part where the little girl steps over the back of adults to get onto the bus. i didn't like the part about londoners making a mad rush up the bus either. maybe they're trying to show how busy the city is but it doesn't reflect well on the social behavior of people.

i expected more from beckham, but all i saw was a miserable kick. i thought he was going to do something else with the ball before he kicks it into the crowd.

overall, i didn't like the closing ceremony as much as the opening ceremony, despite the fact that there had been lip sync and computer generated fireworks on the opening ceremony.

  7. Not at all. The bus was cute. But overall, an "F" for the quality and the effort put in. Maybe they wanted to set the styIe/theme, make a statement but I never thought what the British meant as "modest" would be equivalent to "rubbish" in reality. I find it rather disrespectful...both the cheap street act as well as the mayor. He really needs a lesson on etiquette, formal dressing and respecting the occasion and other people.

  8. You don't have to apologize.

Us Brits realize it's going to be a huge up hill struggle.

If you ask anyone here they'll say it was a complete balls up.

And to be honest we aren't really up for 2012.

It's another thing being rammed down our throats by this left wing government.

They spent £400,000 ($800,000) on that ugly logo - it looks like some idiot sprayed grafiti and has 2012 in weird shapes.

What else could we have spent that money on?

Doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

  9. SOOOOO lame. I mean, the bus opening up was nice at first, and then it opens up to reveal a topiary skyline of London with christmas lights strung over it? Come on, guys...

  10. Yeah it was kind of a let-down. I know it's only supposed to be like a little snippet of London or whatever but it was lackluster.

  11. ya a let down :( ....Well they have 4 years to improve..Y'all can do it :)

  12. I was so disappointed with the efforts. So dull and lifeless. Are we to have the summer olympics in the cold and rainy weather? Where are all the colours? I was so looking forward for the great performances from the London Games, but it was just boring. I don't like cliche performances, but this is speechless.

  13. The London performance in the closing ceremonies seemed undignified after China put on a wonderful and classy show.

  14. yea i thought the stairs were a little wired and that little girl stepping on everyones back was a little wierd too and the singer didnt sing too good

  15. I agree with you. It did not fit in with the Bird's Nest atmosphere at all. And what message are they trying to send to the audience? That London has double decker buses? That it rains there a lot? It was so random. Then the little girl came out. And their little intro video was also really not very good too. It looked like a high schooler did that or something. Same thing with the logo! I can't believe that they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars just on that ugly *** logo. It was like they were trying to show the viewers that London is a bad place due to their lack of performance skills. Judging from this performance, Beijing wins hands down.
