For the people who thought I left.....no,I haven't.I'm still gonna be off alot nowadays it's just that I have too much on my mind at the moment and alot of family buisness.

So onto the question, did you like your teams pick?Do you think they could've done better?Do you think the Islanders were dumb trading down 2 times and missing out on Filatov or Schenn (sorry for spelling)?

  1. I don't mind that we got Joe Colborne. Kyle Beach and Joe Colborne were two players that the Bruins wanted to draft so getting one is better than getting neither. I think Colborne was a good choice because he's so big and he's a strong skater. But I wouldn't have minded getting Stamkos, but what team wouldn't?!

  2. Yeah, I'm pretty happy. We got this 19 year old goalie called Thomas McCollum. He played in the OHL and seems pretty good. I'm looking him up right now, an he has won a few awards and stuff and seems like he can be a great goalie in the future.

  3. YA WE GOT ALEX TANGUAY

  4. As a leaf fan, I'm very satisfied with picking up Schenn, I hear very good things about him, but anyways,  initially I thought dropping couple spots wasn't the smart thing since Filatov was available, but I guess the islanders were certain they would get the player they wanted and really had no interest in Filatov... Perhaps due to the Russian transfer agreement....

  5. Joe Colborne..one guy said he was comparible to Joe Thornton..nothing wrong with that. Quick hands, controls the puck, good hockey sense..I think this guy should be pretty good. He needs some times to develop, which is good because he's going to Denver and playing a little puck there.

With a 16th pick, I think this guy was the best they could do, and there was no real need to trade up, and they couldn't really getting anything to special from trading down. I think Garth knows what he's doing personally.

  6. OK King, I'll bite. First, I think the Rangers got a nice player in Del Zotto at that point in the draft.

Islanders.... I did expect them to trade down once the top three D-men went. They were hoping maybe Atl would have taken Filatov. Isles record as far as drafting Euros hasn't been great, as they would never come over or go back after a season.  As nice a player as Schenn is, they already have enough d-men that aren't goal scorers. Witt is a pretty good shutdown player.  But to trade down, then take Bailey instead of Hodgson( Bodeker was gone) got me annoyed.  Time will tell.

Was I the only one to notice Snow didn't look happy announcing that pick. Wonder how cheap Wang forced him to go? It's almost as if they don't want a top pick to avoid embarassment.

  7. I can't complain.  I've heard nothing but positive about the goalie the Wings picked (I can't remember his name).. and if they wan't Howard to back-up ozzie next year... they should get a solid goalie to play for the Griffins...

the wings have stellar depth at the blueline... so i dont think they have to draft a d'man early...

they also have great prospects offensively... they are set for years to come.

  8. Being a Wings fan, I'm not sure about a goalie with the first pick. Haven't we been grooming Howard for the last 5 years?

And Ozzie proved he still has got it. Hard to question Holland, but........

ALL HAIL THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!!!

  9. we didn't get one but we got Alex Tanguay! and I love Alex Tanguay!

  10. yea i liked the rangers pick. i think del zotto is going to be a good player and i am glad that they are picking a lot of young defense men and then building from there. i think that is the best thing to do. del zotto looks like a good kid and a good player. now that the rangers have staal, Sanguinetti, and now del zotto and have dan girardi who is also another young d-man i think that they are going to have a good defense in the years to come. I do think that it was stupid for the islanders to trade down twice. they need good players but thats what you get when you have garth snow who has no experience in running a team or being a general manager become your GM. i really don't care about the islanders though.

  11. My team the Panthers did not have a first round pick at all. We did finally trade Olli and got two players, Ballard and Boynton. Which I am happy about. It also gave us another second round pick. But we should have gotten a first round pick. But hey it is something. I am satisfied

  12. ya, seen stamkos, now I will!

but another goalie for my wings? not so smart, we need a better defender for chelios when he goes

  13. YEA BABY! Filatov in Columbus! McCollum in Detroit! Not to mention that RJ Umberger is in Columbus now!

  14. oh yah definatly a huge fan. I was happy with Zach Bogosian or Drew Doughty. Either way the Thrashers blue line just took a step in the right direction. I also like that they brought in some speed with Daultan Leveille. Cant wait for the 08/09 season to start

  15. Being a leafs fan I am pretty happy! We go Schenn. i couldnt have asked for anything better. i have seen this guy play a few times and he is really good! Finaly the leafs are making the right moves in a really long time!

  16. yes, im happy about my teams pick, we got beach. i didn't know much about him before but now i know he's an enforcer and that's what the blackhawks have been missing

  17. yeah, Kyle Beach seems like a great player and he's just adding to the youth of the team

  18. I am ok with us picking a quick puck moving defenseman but I wished the Sens would have drafted a goalie in any round

  19. Yeha. I was hoping for Tyler Beach but am very happy w/Tyler Myers. We neede d abig guy on the blueline

Ennis is mall but could be good

  20. I loved my team's moves!  Basically, no news is good news!  Marleau is still a Shark and the wise Doug Wilson didn't force any trades because many GMs were asking for ridiculous packages in return!

The Sharks don't have a pick until the 4th round, but I feel Wilson might make a few moves in swapping picks here and there.  Campbell won't be traded as Wilson and Kelly will continue their negotiations and I can only hope Marleau stays a Shark today.

As for the Islanders, Garth Snow may have let the Isle fans down.  They need a scorer and a shutdown defensemen and both were there in Filatov and Schenn.  Surprisingly, he stockpiled picks instead and went with Bailey.  I think a player as exciting as Filatov with a wicked offensive game, should have been taken at the 5th spot, but Snow's the GM so he must feel that more picks and a playmaking center was more important.
