They were willing it on to blast New Orleans into a murky swampland. Now it won't happen. Poor news people!

  1. It's not over yet. Remember that with Katrina, there were actually sighs of relief that New Orleans had yet again dodged the bullet. How wrong these people were.

  2. surely everyone should be thankful that it was not as bad as Katrina, after all nearly 2,000 people lost their lives in that one

  3. while it may seem that news readers etc do like to have a good story to justify the  astronomical pay packets. most would rather report on happier events that raise a smile. it  is the background 'office'  people that rae sending everybody to cover the events and look at ratings etc with a view to earning bonuses etc by increasing the revenue stream.

these folk you will never see or hear about but are the driving force behind all TV and newspaper etc shows.

you should be aware they are in fact 'shows' and not to be confused with factual reporting.

  4. I am British and I am happy another travesty has been avoided. I think the sympathy of the UK was with the people of New Orleans last time and I am sure we had no wish for a repetition.

Wouldn't Bush have benefited more by paying attention to it this time?

  5. Nah... -But I DID observe that McCain was practically dancing with GLEE that Bush & Cheney weren't going to be Speaking at His Convention afterall ! Why was THAT- I wonder ???  :0

  6. I know what you mean, the press are just vultures.  They feed off everyone's misfortune and, fair enough, they have a job to do, but do they really need to exaggerate and sensationalise everything?

I'm relieved and thankful that the worst appears to be over but there could still be a big problem with flooding.  I understand part of the problem last time was when the heavy rains hit the hills and as the excess water flowed into the rivers to the sea, the flood-waters in New Orleans worsened.

And as Samurai  also said, I hope the US government does more to help this time round.  I read a comment that the Governor of the state "didn't ask for help" after Katrina which was why he got none - the US is famed for jumping in to 'help out' even when it's not asked so why didn't it just tell the Governor that cash and troops were available, especially to help re-build the defences.

  7. What I think is amazing is whenever the world needs help, America is right there.  But when things like Katrina happen, no one helped!

    Ridiculous!!
