As claimed by London Mayor, the Ping-Pong games started by British in England and now mainly played and conquered by China and the Chinese around the world. The London Games in 2012 will want to top their own games and specialties such as Soccer, Cricket, Boating, Sailing and most properly Ping-Pong.

Will they come up with British Tops in Table-Tennis in 2012 Olympics?

  1. Actually, from what I heard, table tennis players in China have been practicing since they were little. and many Chinese people who can't afford to go for other sports or buy any equipment, they can just make a table tennis table by woods. Table tennis rackets, balls are affordable.

British table tennis, unlikely. Unless they import Chinese players, which you can see many Chinese players playing for other nations, they just want to be in the Olympics I guess, as one country can only have 3 players in a singles' event.

  2. Because Chinese are superior in reaction time and hand-eye coordination.

  3. Ping Pont has been dominated by Asian nations for a long time now, I don't think one country can automatically just reclaim it's title from 1930 something in a matter of 4 years.  Besides, wouldn't you rather be tops in swimming, or basketball, or rowing....something with a little actual physical prowess?  Let them keep their "table tennis" title, we'll take actual tennis (a real sport) over it anyday.

  4. Because the chinese are naturally good at certain sports.. like diving and gymnastics. And Australia is good at swimming, jamaica is good at sprinting and germany is good at shot put.

  5. Easier for smaller framed people to take up.

Like other sports, rugby, cricket, tennis now dominated by other nations.

  6. It was initially a game for the English upper classes who had nothing better to do after eating fish n chips for dinner. However they gave it up a long time ago coz they they sucked at ball games and made pub games like darts and beer-drinking their national sports...

For "ping pong" the Chinese learnt about it and took it to another level. Its really a very difficult game to master as it is super fast.

Compared to other sports which emphasize more on power and endurance, Ping Pong tests the player's technique, control, speed and reflexes.

I tend to think Chinese are better because they have smaller physiques and could thus cope better with reflex and agility sports. While Caucasians have more height and muscle mass which is why they perform better in games like soccer, athletics and swimming.

  7. Table Tennis is very popular in China and their athletes are treated like stars, so more talented youths will develop interests in that very early

Chinese has developed more new skills in the competition and which the Europeans also keen to study but never quite seems to master it like the Chinese do.

  8. Ping Pong should be gone from olympic

only its popular in asian countries

    if ping pong is aloud

    then why not pocket ball??

    most countries have pros

    why not cue sports?

    and have like different events

    like team battle

    9-ball, 8-ball, straight pool , etc
