  1. All of the cats that I've had were adopted by me (they had had former homes where the people could no longer keep them, or they were in animal shelters).  However, when Sasha (a beautiful calico) bounded across my threshold after her other friend could no longer keep her, it was obvious that she had chosen her new home.

  2. hhmmm....4 picked me, 6 are offspring of the ones that picked me so they were born here, 1 I chose (actually stole from her abusive owners) and 2 are part of the 16 kittens that I fostered this spring (3 feral females gave birth in my garage) I took the rest to the no kill shelter, where I started volunteering. I kept one of them because he was not adoptable, the other is his cousin. I kept her to keep him company and she was the runt of her litter so she needed extra TLC- she is getting huge now.- so it is a mix.

  3. When I went to the Humane Society and adopted my precious Jasper I think we picked each other. He kept pawing at the cage and he grabbed my fingers and wouldn't turn me loose. When I asked to hold him he kissed my cheek and rubbed his head on my shoulder. I said, " Awww, I want him." The lady said " Awww, I'd say so."

  4. they pick you

  5. Most of my pets pick me.  My late dog picked us.  I'm currently waiting for another dog to pick us.  Ferra, the 12 year cat old picked us.  I took her in to find her a new home instead of the person taking her to the shelter.  Within 2 minutes of bringing her home, she had found a home.  Ours.  Louie the Large was left with his litter mates at the dog kennel my friend owns.  I wanted an orange cat.  None of the 14 others I met "did it for me".  Louie was the one.  When my husband met him he said "well I guess you are our new cat, we better get you a name".  SCORE!  We took him home. Leopold was a little different.  He's a purebred Bengal and my same friend said he was for sale or free to one of her friends.  I went and met him and took him home.  It's like he was calling me.  A Bengal is the only purebred cat I would even consider paying for.  I don't pay for cats and didn't pay for him either.  I love it when my pets choose me...

  6. it picked me

    long story!!! :-)

  7. There were two kittens left in the litter, a pure black male with white paws, and a multi-coloured female-Orange, black, grey and cream all mingled together with a black-cream-and orange striped tail. The male was eating and the female was sleeping. As soon as I saw them I knew I had names for both-The male would be Midnight and the female would be Fee-accent over first 'e' french for faerie pronounced 'Fay'- The male looked up and walked over, but when I pet him he went away to eat. The female-Fee- Woke up and climbed up the couch to get as high as possible and put her front paws on my side. She was 7 weeks old. We got her that day. She is now 25 weeks old, and as cute as ever! She is a champion fly-catcher, and loves climbing onto couches (Hmmm... ) and onto out super-high bar-stool style chairs!

    I love Fee!!

  8. Tibbins picked us, as did Archie.

We thought we were the ones to pick Willow, but when we went to get her, it was obvious she would have picked us anyway, by the way she was hanging from our coats with all four paws, just dangling there and meowing at us.

  9. 19 yr old girl picked me... living on a ranch with 200 dogs... she was pg and needed a safe place to live.  the dogs would have torn her to peices!

15 yr old male was given to me by someone who was allergic... WHAT A LOVER!

7 yr old was born in my guest room... her mom was homeless and I was fostering her... so ? me/her?

  10. You must know the answer if you're a cat person.

Of course they all picked ME!

I must be pretty special.  :)

  11. I inherited mine...She belonged to my neighbor..who passed away and no one in her family would take her...so I ended up adopting her.

  12. My little girl actually picked him out. He was the runt of the litter and she wanted us to take him home and take extra good care of him because he was so small. We must have taken extra, extra good care of him because he is ginormous now!

  13. Both my cats are from a shelter.  We picked Luke, the oldest, because out of all the kittens in the cage he was the only one that completely ignored us.  All the others were crawling over each other to get to us and he just sat on the pillow sleeping.  We got Meg a year after Luke and she picked us.  Unlike Luke, she was the only kitten in the cage that was trying to get our attention.  All the others were ignoring us or sleeping and she was at the door meowing and waiting for us to take her out of the cage.

  14. my cat picked my family. we came back from shopping when it was dark and as we were going inside our house a random cat we had never seen before just came right in. she has always stayed with us since

  15. I saved my cat from going to a high kill place. He is now my best friend. I think if it hadnt gotten him the way I did I think we would have chosen eachother, he is my little guard cat dog, but he loves everyone but only pays attention to me when im around haha.

  16. Over many years of living with different kitties, I would say that my most memorable ones chose me. Cats usually can sense those people who will treat them well and love them.

  17. I didn't pick any of my cats.  I foster cats and if one is ever very special to my heart, it may stay here with me.  But I have to give up my fosters at some point, to great, loving homes.  I bet, if I foster an adult and it's never adopted, I might adopt it if I really love it.  I'm truly a cat person.

I am fostering two eleven week old kittens right now and they won't let me leave without hanging on my pant legs.  That seems right because I feed them and change their litter box.  And love them like my own!

I love cats and they love me!!!

  18. I've had dozens of kitties over the years. All but one picked me. The other was a gift.

  19. I picked 2 :] and then the other 3 picked us ahha :]

  20. My long list:

My first cat and I picked each other.  He was being care for by my roommates before I moved in but we eventually became too close to separate and he's been mine ever since.

Our first cat/my second cat - my boyfriend picked him out as a gift from me.  We were in petsmart for an hour staring at kittens from a foster organization and finally they told him to try another one in the same store - we saw a gray tabby laying with his cream-colored belly in the air and had to get him immediately.

Our girl picked me.  She was a stray and pregnant.  I sat at the door for a long time with her immediately on the outside of it asking her to come in.  Finally I put my head down and she walked straight in to head butt me.  I cried.

4th: We picked him.  He was a big feral kitten and wanted nothing to do with us.  Now he's a snuggler.

5th: Tough call.  He was born here and was the least well-adjusted of the group so he stayed when they all went to new homes.  If anything, he picked his mother.  He does fine though and he's very loving.

6th: I guess he picked us, although he wasn't feeling very picky at the time.  He spent a hot, sunny day stuck in the median of a busy road at around 5 weeks old.  His eyes got all crusted over so I don't think he knew what was happening when my boyfriend grabbed him up.  But he's happy now.

  21. It was probably a little of both. I went to see about a litter of 7 of which he was the only boy. When I told the breeder I'd prefer a male, he fished the little guy out from hiding under a couch (can you blame him with 6 sisters?) and handed him to me. The moment I had him in my arms, he curled up and shut his eyes like he was in heaven. Another lady was there at the time and she said, "It's like he's an anime cat, with the stars and hearts all around his head." He still comes running to greet me at the door every time I come home from work and won't settle down until I pick him up and snuggle him.

I'm planning on getting him a little sister when I get a bigger apartment. I only hope I get as lucky next time.

  22. Maybe I'm flattering myself but it seems that they have always picked me.  Especially my current cat, ChloeRose.  I was standing looking in all the cages, waiting for something to hit my heart when this little paw came through the wire toward me.  I had permission to open the cages and when I did she and I both lowered at the same time and butted heads, which of course is cat talk for:  We Are Family. Then I saw those big green eyes and I was done.

  23. My cat picked me i found her on the street with madded fur and she ran up to me and when i picked her up she pured

  24. My 3 cats picked my family :)  They were the first to come running and just stayed with us the whole time.

  25. my two cats picked me I guess

  26. when i got my first cat (sasha) It was love at first sight. I saw her in the pet store and I was sold. My second kitty (mr. Chips) was adopted from a friend of ours. So I guess I picked mr. chips. but sasha and I just clicked

  27. I picked my 3 cats!

My 15 year old Ponpon, I got in a newspaper add. He was a 3 month old kitten, last one to go.

My 3 or 4 year old Lola was given to the shelter for behavioral problems by their owner. I saw her on the internet and I didn't care about her problems. I went to pick her up and she really wanted to come with me.

My baby Zezete, she's 2 years and a half now. Saw her on the internet, she was 5 months old. I found her to be just beautiful and really wanted to adopt her. I phoned the humane society and they told me she was getting spayed the next day and 3 couples wanted her so there was no chance for me. I was really sad. Everyday, I looked on the site and exactly one month later, I still see her picture. I thought I was dreaming. This time, I didn't phone, I just rushed over there! When I went through the door, there she was in her cage all alone looking at me. I went up to her and she started pawing at me through the cage. I asked the girl if I could see her so she opened the cage and when I took her in my arms, she didn't move and started purring. She had a very bad URI. Turns out she had been in a foster home for a month, they couldn't spay her because she was sick. The 3 couples had changed their minds, they did not want her. They wanted a healthy cat! I adopted her right then and there. Took her home and found out she is a herpes cat. Love her to death. Took care of her like a baby! Wouldn't change her for the world!

  28. Well, I'm a bit of a softie, so when I finally decided to get a cat (instead of just pining away for one) I went to petfinder.com.  I had to do it that way otherwise I would've wanted to take all the cats from the shelter.

So I picked a little grey boy but it turned out that his brothers needed homes too.  Two of the three brothers found families, but there was the tiny, skinny black kitty left.  The opinion of the shelter vet was that he needed to be kept a close eye on and rushed to a vet if he took a turn for the worse.  I couldn't leave him behind, so he came home with me and his brother.

Today he is the biggest of the two (13.5 pounds) and tall, sweet, sassy, and healthy.  Turns out someone/something chose him for me.  He's "my" cat and his brother, the one I spent weeks on the internet looking for, decided he LOVES my husband above anyone/anything else.

  29. I think the kitten picked us. It was brought around by two little girls who were looking for a home for it. We did not have pets but decided to give it a try. It was with us for seven years. Poor thing wandered out on the road and was hit by a car.
