Up until about the sixth grade corporal punishment was still legal in the US. I remember getting a ruler to my hand for not finishing my homework. I had to put my chewing gum on the end of my nose for the whole day for chewing gum in class. And the worst for telling on my teacher for giving me silent lunch"my teacher a nun" my principle a "former nun" made me stand in the hallway during recess with my arms folded and legs standing spread apart silent during the whole time while kids passed me by in the hallway. Mean huh?
