Perhaps I'm crazy, but I had Calzaghe winning by at least four rounds. . . .

  1. That was actually a fairly common score among people that were ringside.  Press row, yahoo.com, and espn.com all had the fight 114-113 for Hopkins.  I'm with you, I had Calzaghe winning 115-112, which is 8 rounds to 4 with one point deducted for the knockdown in the first round.  However, I could see how someone would have scored a close fight for Hopkins (as one of the official judges did) because for this fight, it all came down to if you like quantity or quality.  Hopkins was landing the harder blows throughout, but when you get outlanded by over 100 punches (which he did in this fight), I think that quantity wins over quality in this particular case.  You're not crazy- Calzaghe deserved the decision, but I will say that this fight only proved one thing to me: if Calzaghe had crossed the pond years ago and fought B-Hop in his prime, Hopkins would have won easily.

  2. It was a female judge who had the score wrong.

  3. Calzaghe did the bare minunum too win that fight and when you do that dont be surprized if people think you didnt win.

    The same thing happend in

Floyd Mayweather vs Oscar Dela Hoya

Oscar Dela hoya vs Felix Strum

Floyd Mayweather vs Jose Louis Castillo

    Hopkins and Jermain Taylor 1

  4. Well this is pretty much and unwritten rule in America, I don't know where your from but the challenger must really beat the champion to win the fight. Calzaghe did not beat Bernard Hopkins senseless, I mean you have to truly rule the fight and have control of the fight if you wanna beat the champion on a decision.

  5. I think they used 3 celebrity judges ---- Stevie Wonder, Jose Feliciano & Ronnie Milsap.

  6. Yes Chrissy I Am And Was Truly Appalled To Hear This As I Was After The Fight To Hear That A Judge Also Had It Scored The Same WAY.  Attention Was Brought To My Mind And I Was Appalled --Thank You SO Muuuch For The Inquisition---Your Not Crazy Sweetheart ----Don't You Worry

  7. I had Hopkins winning only the first round. There were two other close rounds. Calzaghe took all others. ESPN is 'America first'.

  8. Most Americans feel that the challenger has to take the championship away from the champion. Though Joe is a champion in his own right, he was the challenger for this fight. Personally, I thought that Joe won the fight, but I can see how some people may have given Hopkins a few close rounds simply because in the US we often give the close ones to the champ. If both fighters were unknowns, Joe would have got the unanimous decision very easily.
