  1. "The oil companies fund the environmentalists. They're both on the same side of wanting to restrict supply,"

"When the oil companies are able to make hundreds of billions of dollars in profit, they're not going to come along and tell the American people that oil is abundant, that we are never going to run out of it, that we're finding increasing resources."

  2. Haha um, that's a custom electric cart designed to look like a Hummer.  Its top speed is 23 mph.  While that's pretty cool and all, it's basically a glorified golf cart, not an electric Hummer.  And it's not in mass production - it's a one of a kind custom job.

  3. Electric power for a car is really only an option for lightweight vehicles.  Unless battery technology makes some incredible leaps into the impossibly fantastic, there is no way you will be able to drive a Hummer on electricity unless you have it plugged in to a self-propelled power station driving along side it.

We all know we need to make cuts to our energy use if we are to survive, but none of us want to give up our luxuries.

I've never really understood the large car thing except from a safety point of view.  I have a tiny car and it's really easy to park, cheap to drive, and I can duck in and out of places those monster trucks can never go.
