  1. Well...I've had time to sleep on it, listen to the pundits, gain a new perspective, and do some soul searching...and I still think McCain has lost his mind.

The article re-makes all of the obvious points and one other...that he chose her mainly to give his ticket credibility on a wedge issue--abortion.

The Republicans/McCain are oblivious to the fact that there are two wars in progress and the economy is in a "not-a-recession" and are focusing on non-issues to win over voters.

The President has no control over Roe v Wade other than to hope that a couple of Supreme Court judges retire and that they can slip some appointees in there who are pro-life AND get a case that somehow challenges the Constitutionality of a woman's right to choose up through system and before the Supreme Court and HOPE that they somehow overturn the precedent (which in law terms is no mean feat).

The VICE President has ABSOLUTELY no control of the issue whatsoever, and thus their opinion is moot.

Is this how the Republicans are planning to continue running the country?

McCain squandered his opportunity to bring an economically savvy VP onto the ticket to address his admitted weakness, the economy, and instead brought in an unknown, untried, champion of the wedge issues to address non-issues that the Executive Branch has all but zero control over.

It is less than a political gamble...it is a political joke.

The Republicans simply do not want to address the issues.

And McCain's judgment is in serious question.

  2. Wasn't the democratic party the first to show desperation and poor judgment in selecting a candidate, not a VP but an actual candidate for the presidency, who has zero experience, questionable Chicago backstreet ties, supports and befriends a strange, loud, preacher for twenty years, then dis-es him because he suddenly became a political liability? He has a rhetoric that everyone flies to like the moth to the flame, but just like the moth may very well perish in its consuming fire. The democratic nominee for the presidency has shifted his position on Iraq, taxes, and will do it more completely concerning off shore drilling when he realizes that's what American voters unquestionably  want - Energy Independence!

We can play this who is desperate and who has shown the poorest judgment game to the hilt. Republicans and democrats play politics. That is what they do. Anything to win! It's the nature of the beast.

Now is not the time to be overly concerned with social agendas and pet projects. Who will keep this nation secure? Free it from foreign oil? Who has the better track record for dedicated service? Obama and Biden, or McCain and Palin? For the record, the Alaskan Governor with her limited tenure has already shown excellent judgment and political courage. And for the critics, both republican candidates have a combined experience, even if they are not as flowery in speech,  that equals and possibly outmatches the other two.

  3. The only place it was wrong was in citing Obama's and Biden's experience. The former has no experience in being a leader and 40 years of working in the Senate does not prepare Biden for anything but *** kissing.

  4. everybody just shut up and vote Republican or you'll be sorry.

  5. Yeah, I saw this article and totally agree.

  6. Wow, um, don't even get me started on Obama.

  7. I take all that opinion with a grain of salt. Mccain is a sharp old coot and wouldn't do anything that could jeopardize something he has wanted for years.

  8. I am not the least bit surprised.

  9. In 1968 16,000 Americans died in Vietnam in that year alone,

A democrat war, same in Korea 17 years before also a Democtat war,

Under Carter the Prime rate was 21% and inflation was 14%,

    Twice what the Mafia charges,

Clinton gutted the military budget and showed a surplus,

  10. I couldn't agree more.  I liked what she said about him gambling, but this ticket is like pushing all your chips into the pot with 7 2 off suit.

  11. Yes. McCain is desperate and that's what his VP pick shows

"McCain could easily lose in an electoral landslide. That is the private view of Democrats and Republicans alike.

McCain’s pick shows he is not pretending. Politicians, even “mavericks” like McCain, play it safe when they think they are winning — or see an easy path to winning. They roll the dice only when they know that the risks of conventionality are greater than the risks of boldness."

    I couldn't agree more

  12. Here is the problem with opinion pieces. You can find them from both sides. Here your authors diss the national polls and offer their opinion with nothing to back it up other than wishful thinking.

    1. He’s desperate. Let’s stop pretending this race is as close as national polling suggests. The truth is McCain is essentially tied or trailing in every swing state that matters — and too close for comfort in several states like Indiana and Montana the GOP usually wins pretty easily in presidential races. On top of that, voters seem very inclined to elect Democrats in general this election — and very sick of the Bush years

They then use the very polls that they say are wrong.

  13. i dont know. i think this election is the most controversial election we ever had in the history of our country.

i dont think im gonna vote. i just want to whoever wins to get america out of this recession and actually take our finger out of everybody's business and mind our own

  14. Since you and Yahoo are flaming liberals I think it;s funny that that is the best they can do.

You libs must be getting scared. If she wasn't a threat you wouldn't be attacking her

    I'M LOVIN it LOL

  15. I agree with every word in that article. Palin does make Obama look like a senior statesman.

  16. yea, but in response to the desperate part i think he is doing well, he is in the running even though he represents the party that has a 20% approval rating in the white house.  I am impressed with how close it is.

This is not an endorsement of either candidate.
