  1. I must admit I missed it, but I went to Liverpool quite a few times years back and found it pretty grim. It was the first time I had ever seen a newsagent where you had to ask for a mars bar because it was behind protected glass. I liked how they described it as 'gritty' on the trailer for the Newsnight review program...thats one way of putting it I suppose....

If I was going to see art I would rather go to London, its much better really. They are just trying to jazz Liverpool up with this culture thing. Good luck to 'em, I suppose.

  2. I was there and i thought it was absolutely amazing. It must have taken some organisation, and everything went without a hitch. I am proud to be a scouser and those who didn't enjoy it or who are putting a dampener on the whole thing mustn't be able to appreciate the effort people have put in. One of the other answerers was complaining that she was squashed like a sardine, well would they have preferred nobody turned up? I can't believe how negative people are being about such a great thing. x

  3. The whole thing made me laff and laff.

Liverpool, capital of culture?  With old Brooky stars and Ringo?  Who are you kidding?

    Nothing against the city though.

  4. did catch ringo trying to knock out a tune, heaven help us if they call that culture

  5. the whole 'Capital of Culture' makes me laugh Liverpool has already messed up by spending over £20million of tax payers money and digging up people like Ringo Starr and other people i didnt even know, yeah great start.......

EDIT: HappyChickxx obviously you dont know about all the problems they have had then when you said everything went without a hitch, what about the £20million overspend, the lack of stars, behind deadlines and the general ignorance of the Liverpool officals asking for more money and bigger taxes

  6. I went to see it and wish I hadnt, everyone was packed in like sardines, people were getting annoyed with each other because you couldnt move! To be honest it was an embarrassment to watch. It started at 8.08 and finished at 8.50, 42 minutes of c**p basically! Ringo Starr did a drum solo and sang one song, there were 'celebraties' coming out of a ship container, who they were I will never know, has beens?!! So called guitarists and drums on top of carpark roof, St Georges Hall and Radio City Tower who mimed and people strapped to cranes trying to land planes with flags!! I am from The Wirral (over the Mersey from Liverpool), trying to get home was a nightmare, I lost my husband and found a police man who was very helpful in helping me find him. We made our way to Lime Street station and they had shut it, passenger safety! Went to Central Station and James Street, they were shut too!!! Waited for a bus for over an hour. Moan, moan, moan!!! To be honest it was more entertaining watching the fights and drunks falling over!! Hopefully the show at The Echo Arena will be better tonight!! Come on Liverpool, make us proud!!! Pleeeeaaaaasssssseeeee!!!
