about a Texas cop who pulled over a couple speeding down the interstate? They had their dog in the backseat and it was choking. They were rushing to get it to a vet when the cop pulled them over and detained them for 15 min. The cop told them they could just get another one. Needless to say the dog died. What do you think the cop should have done or do you think he did the right thing?

  1. He pulled them over for speeding, that was pretty much the only "right" thing he did during the stop.

He was being very insensitive, in fact his commanding officer said that the guy was being extremely hard for no good reason.

He should have offered them an escort to the vet's office to ensure that they and other drivers were safe, but he didn't.

Although, we're looking at him like an insensitive ******, but maybe he's just not an animal lover.  People who aren't crazy about animals, can't really understand what the big fuss is.  To this officer, maybe getting a new dog was like going and buying a new pair of jeans, no biggie.

The story is sad though.  I do wish the news would run more stories that put the police in a good light.  My husband was a cop for lots of years and people hate cops, it's stupid really.

  2. I think the owners have a right to press charges on the officer for neglecting the dog. They should sue him too.

  3. Another case of animal cruelty and gross negligence at the hands of a police officer... The right thing would have been not making the stupid, insensitive comment, transporting the dog in his police car code 2 - expedited - no lights and sirens.

  4. OMG that is so sad! When there is something wrong with my dogs for example my baby was dieing and he couldn't breath and i called my vet on his cell and he said to me how fast can you get to my office and i said it takes about 40 to 45 min and he said HOW fast can you get there? I said as fast as i can and he said ok i will see you there so if i have gotten pulled over and that happened to me my vet may have threw a fit. Trust me he gets mad easily so since he told me to rush i'm sure he would have gotten mad. That is not the only time he ever said that to me either. And no i don't think that he did the right thing. I think that as soon as he seen what was going on he should have left them go and followed them there if he was that worried about it. My husband said that he's sorry, but they would have had to follow us all the way to the vets and arrest him when we got there if they felt it was needed.

  5. I did see something about it, but haven't seen the video yet.

I would file a formal complaint, and have this jerk reprimanded, and put in his file that he said and did this.

I would also recommend that he do time with the local animal shelter or spca, and get some sensitivity training!  what a jerk!!

  6. What about the woman that died in the ER while she was there for more than 24 hours or that officer that pulled over a man and a women while he was driving her to the ER, she ended up dying. This is news, just be glad it wasnt their son or daughter that needed to be rushed to the hospital. Either way, he should have let them go.

  7. He should be arrested and I wouldn't stop complaining till he was. He should be removed from the force immediately or something, but what he did was absolutely not right. Hopefully, the people will turn him in or something.

  8. nope , i havent seen this news story , but it looks interesting , so im going to look it up . & NOOOOOOOOO ! i do not think the cop did the right thing .

  9. Yes, I've heard about that. It is just horrible.
