Did you see the payouts at Afflictions PPV??

Dana White has always seemed very cocky to me, as if, the UFC is untouchable. I've always thought that this could be a dangerous attitude to have, but never really saw enough financial backing from any of the other promotions to pose a real threat. Now , with Affliction having financial backing the likes of Mark Cuban and Donald Trump, I think Dana White needs to smarten up and shut his mouth. Arlovski makes a million dollars and Silvia hets 800 grand just for showing up? Most UFC PPV's don't reach 800 grand for their entire fighters payroll!! I still believe that the UFC has the top fighters, for the huge majority, but fighting the best fighters will become less important to these guys, if the money is right!! I think the UFC needs to quit worrying about making money hand over fist and start paying these fighters a little (actually a lot more) Jack!! What do you think??

  1. I agree. Im anticipate more good fight coming.

  2. I think Affliction realized they cant afford to pay fighters that

much this early in the game.

In a revealing interview with Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, Atencio said that the large salaries paid to fighters such as Tim Sylvia ($800,00) and Andrei Arlovski ($750,000 including bonus) were necessary for the company “to make a big splash”.

He added: “Having said that, we realize this is a business first and that if we don’t turn a profit, we’re not going to be around. We need to have the guys understand that.

“We just can’t go out there and throw money around without thought. The guys have to be willing to work with us and can’t simply look at us as a cash cow.”

Judging by the interview it sounds like they didnt have enough

ppv buys to even cover the fighters payouts.

-Bottom line is if they dont start turning a profit those

big backers like Trump and Cuban will pull out. Trump is in

the business of making money, not donating to a T-shirt company.

  3. I did see the payouts and I think Fedor should be as pissed off at Affliction as Randy is with UFC.  Fedor got 300 thousand while Sylvia who lost in 36 seconds got 800 thousand.  Even Arlovski made 750 thousand.

I have also heard that UFC pays a percentage of the pay-per-views to the fighters in the main event.  I think Brock Lesner got a percentage of PPV for his debut.

  4. yeah thats a good point, im sure if dana white sees momentum building elsewhere he will have no choice but to buck up and pay his guys...at the same time though, it sounds like affliction is overpaying a little there, and h**l, they can afford to, maybe they wanted to make good impressions all around for their first show...but overall i agree.
