Did you serve a late night snack for your guests?

Whether it was having pizza brought in to help soak up the alcohol or sandwiches or whatever. If you did this, was a hit with your guests or did they even notice?

  1. We aren't doing it since we are serving dinner about 8:00 or so. Our wedding is at 6:00.

Our favors are cookies, so we figured that they could have that as a snack after wedding was done.

  2. Usually the rule of thumb is that if you are serving alcohol you usually serve a late snack.  But it all depends on how late your reception is and if its included in the meal.

  3. The late night snack concept is very regional.  I live in the Northeast and it's not common at all.   Usually, a wedding starts with a huge Cocktail Hour followed by dinner and then a Venetian Table.  A Venetian Table is a dessert buffet with lots of sweets.    Usually, wedding cake, coffee, tea,  additional cakes, cheesecake, Italian Cookies, Fresh Fruit, Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

IMO, you should serve more sweets than snacks.  After all, I don't know who's going to want Pizza or similar foods after having large dinner.   Sweets are a better ending and they still help to fill the stomach.

  4. i was in my friends wedding and we rented out all of the rooms in the place (im not sure how yours is?) but at midnight, we all met in the living room (it was an old mansion) and had pizza! it was nice.. after an evening of formal dining/dancing it was nice to let your hair down, wear jammies and chow down. whatever you choose, choose something simple especially if you are serving it late into the evening... people dont care about fancy food at that hour, if at all

  5. My wedding reception was in Jersey, when diners were still open all night, so it wasn't necessary.

  6. Yes a last round of munchies was passed around about an hour after cake. It was great since everybody had worked up an appetite from all the dancing.

  7. We're having a dessert table which will include dessert, fruit, and cheese. That way, there's no specific time that additional food will be served...and they can just go get some snacks as they please.

  8. Mine's outside so we're roasting marshmallows and doing s'mores around a campfire for whoever wants to. I think my guests will like this. How often do you get to roast marshmallows anymore?

  9. No....it was late and everybody wanted to go home....and for those that didn't, usually the parents of either the bride or groom (my family does this) invites wedding guests over to their home for coffee & munchies...usually no more than a dozen of us end up there...

For my second wedding tho, it was small and at my sisters so we broke up really late......my guy's best man & wife had come in from several states away so before we went to our hotel room we escorted them to the hotel room we had booked for them (our treat), then fetched them the next morning to have breakfast together....since they came in their own car we saw them off, then stated our honeymoon week..........

  10. I can guarantee guests will love this. If you have the money in your budget it's a great idea. I'm having an open bar and I knew this was a must. It's one thing my fiance is most excited about. Not only is it considerate, because people will surely work up an appetite after all the drinking and dancing but it's also a way to bring in a little variety. We're doing a sit down served dinner and then about an hour before the shindig is over we're doing a variety of hors' dourves.

Guys especially love this. The more food the better is their philosophy.

  11. We had a dessert served with dinner, and then wedding cupcakes and coffee about half way between dinner and the end of the reception.  They were a huge hit.  People weren't really hungry again (I would think that folks might not eat something as heavy as pizza or sandwiches after a big meal), but it did provide a break in the drinking, and they were fabulous cupcakes (and cheap, at $1 apiece)
