Did you solve problem with the RCA DVD/Recorder?

Hello Ziggy1. My name is Robert. [e-mail] I think you can upgrade the Firmware on this unit so it will use the current blank DVDs, I think these are 16x ? I also have this player and would like to upgrade mine. I thought I would need to call RCA and find out how to download new Firmware and then write it to a DVD and then run it on the player to upgrade the Firmware? What do you think?
