I'm starting to take a liking to making my own cleaning products. This morning I made a wall washing mixture and it worked great. I used vinegar and baking soda down my drains before and it seems to work.I'm so "commercialized and brainwashed" into thinking that i have to buy expensive cleaning products to get the job done. I have a baby and I am still young, so I don't want to use toxic chemicals for the rest of my life and risk getting cancer.

So what do you think? Did you notice a difference in cleanliness, smell, ease of use?

  1. In an old spray bottle I have mixed 50% white vinegar and 50% general purpose cleaning detergent.  It cleans the sink and kitchen surfaces beautifully (better than the commercial products and without the chemical smell) and I pour some in the floor washing water.  It works well in the bathroom and I get a whole spray bottle for less than a third of the cost of ready made products.  No fumes either!

  2. I noticed a huge difference. I use vinegar/water to clean almost everything. My house now seems cleaner, it smells better and we feel better. I feel a lot better about not using toxic chemicals around my kids. My pocket book likes it more too, since vinegar is so cheap. :)
