Did you think high school was a waste of time?

I spent four boring years of my life in high school and I don't feel like I learned anything. It felt like a complete waste of my time. I'm not a teenager venting about high school (don't worry). I'm just curious, does anyone else agree? Was high school as pointless for you as it was for me? To me it just feels like adults wanted to give us something to do to stay out of trouble, like we were being babysat or something.

  1. It was not a waste of time for me. And trust me, you probably did learn something. I'll bet you anything you did. Not only did i grow intellectually, but i grew as a person. I matured beyond my years, i made many friends. I learned a lot about myself. I learned what i truly stood for and who i was .

though it was boring at many, many times- and i did complain a lot- i learned a lot and i do not believe it was a waste of time.

  2. Absolutely! I could have been spending those four years of my life doing something more productive!

  3. When your in or just out of high school yeah you will feel that way. And at first I kind of agreed but there is some reason out there for everything. If you ever buy anything you will need those math skills. No one wants to repeat some of the things that happened back in the day so history is a must. Science helps us understand where things come from and how they do what they do. Health class is self explainatory. Gym kept us in shape and gave us something fun to do. So yeah I guess you really do need it all.

I do agree that it was boring though.

  4. No way it was a blast but it only gets better in college

  5. I guess it depends on the high school. For me, middle school was a waste of time. However, my high school was ranked among the top 100 or so in the nation, and I got a very thorough education. It didn't hurt that my school was also extremely liberal and open-minded, and we had no cliques (believe it or not, I know it sounds impossible but it's true). It taught me a lot about accepting others from all walks of life. Also, academically speaking, 99% of our graduating class went on to college, where most of them reported that our high school classes were infinitely more difficult than the subjects they took in college. Our school was very, very challenging, but you learned a great deal.

Overall, I think it depends on the school, the classes you chose to take, and the general attitude of the other students. While I hate all school in general, I know it's necessary and I can't truthfully say that high school was a waste of my time. The way you look at it makes all the difference.

  6. Not at all!  Looking back, I learned so much in high school, both academically and personally.  There were so many great opportunities and people.  I think that high school, like many things in life, is simply what you make of it.

  7. high school is not waste of time if you fell you don't learn anything may be you don't learn well at the school
