i'm thinking about trying it out.. but would like to hear of other peoples experiences.

www.epi-no.com is the device i'm thinking about trying. I thought i'd mention the website just incase the same thing goes by another name. Speaking of which, do you know of a cheaper option?

  1. you can do your kegels throughout pregnancy. then a few weeks before delivery start doing a perineum massage. You can google it to find out how exactly to do it.

also your doctor or midwife can do it for you when you are in labor.

that is all free. I really don't think there is a reason to spend that money on something like that. Dont waste your money.

I did the massage and my midwife did too. I gave birth to an 8lb 3oz boy with a HUGE head , No tears or epi.

  2. My obstetrician recommends doing perineal massage - apparently it has the same effect as the Epi-no but is free!

Here's a link to an article about it (and a video!)

I didn't do it with my first bub and ended up getting a 2nd-degree tear.  My obstetrician says I should do it next time to avoid tearing again.

A friend used the Epi-no for her 2nd bub (after tearing with the first) and she didn't tear the 2nd time.
