  1. How do you COPE? Here are several places to start:

    1) Stop feeling so self-important and superior.

    2) Become a better cook and prepare good food that you like.

    3) Remind yourself that this is not a crisis. Yes, it kind of stinks, but it is nothing that requires "coping."

  2. Hey- we move a lot- kind of know where you're coming from.  We just moved from an area with great upscale restaurants, but the WORST pizza, to an area with a ton of chains, like Olive Garden, which they love here. . . but also, some great independent pizza shops.   So you eat what's good where you are.   And if it all stinks, try to get away every now & then . . . Good luck.

  3. Just accept it. Good places to eat is hard to find unless you are willing to drive miles away you gotta deal with it. I actually love olive garden

  4. LOL, I would kill for Olive Garden.  Here in *******, Michigan, Taco h**l is considered great food!

  5. Yes, I used to live in a metropolitan area where you could find AUTHENTIC ethnic food.  Thankfully, the Chinese restaurant I used to frequent has a location here too!  Once you've eaten real Chinese food, the other stuff is impossible to ingest!  And there's one good Italian restaurant here but it costs a fortune.

It's hard to cope with food in this area.  It's disgusting! They think cooking with bacon fat gives the food flavor.  It's impossible to convince them otherwise!

  6. I used to live in the northeast, New York, Connecticut, even Pittsburgh. I find that the Italian food is so much better there than in Texas where I live now. Down here Olive Garden is considered good Italian food. I love the Olive Garden but miss the Italian restaurants from the NE. However, that being said, they do make some awesome Mexican food in Texas, also there are foods available down south that you would rarely ever see up north such as fried corn, okra, fried catfish, collard greens....etc. The food is different in different regions, you just have to learn to love what you've got! I found a pizza place that is owned by Pittsburghers and the food is great, also there are Italian restaurants owned by New Yorkers that are great. Try to find ones that are owned by relocated people and you'll be fine!

  7. I agree with snoopy, learn to cook good!! Other than that I like Olive Garden!
