it was on the other day. I've always thought that everything we make and build is totally unnatural, but after seeing this programme, it changed my mind. after 10,000 yrs of no humans, the only things left to prove human existance would be ancient clay tablets, and buildings like the great wall of china, there would be nothing left of modern man, in fact most of what modern man has created would be gone within a thousand years, metal will corrode, concrete will crumble to dust, books will decay and even things like CD's and photo negatives will have dissapeared, and greenery will regrow where we once were. Doesn't that show how much more powerful nature is than man.

  1. What about all the plastic? I thought that stuff was around forever! I know some computer parts are and maybe auto, then there are the bags-small and large and everything in-between, bottles-all shapes and sizes...

I'm sure nature could do a lot w/o our interference (I battle weeds daily in my 'garden') but I'm afraid we'd still have stuff lying around here and there.

  2. I guess so. But you don't need to watch TV to know how powerful nature is....just go to an Aussie beach on a rough day  and feel the power of the water as it slams you into the sandy floor! ;0)

  3. No sadly I missed it. Desperately hope channel 4 repeat it soon. The 4 of us cant sit round a laptop and watch it on 4od!!

  4. i know what you mean, it really changed my view in things

  5. i missed it!

yes, you only have to see how quick brownfield sites get colonised. buddlia and other shrub and tree seedlings cracking up through the tarmac, even taking root in the brickwork of walls. grass mats over any solid surface in years. rats are very efficient  dismantlers, undermining all sorts of structures (my shed at the moment grrrr).

we dont have to worry about 'nature' as a whole, its only the current ecosystems and humans that are under threat.
