  1. i liked how they had 2008 dancers out there at one point.

    clever

  2. I reckon it was spectacular. It sure outdone Sydney and Athens, which were the only Olympics that I remember in my lifetime so far.

I guess they want you to realise that many of the things we can't live without today (like paper) are made by the oh-so-fabulous Chinese. I guess we've taken it for granted.

They also wanted to prove to the world that they've got more power than they've already got. Nobody can pull off such a performance with that many people.

All I can say is, good luck with London in 4 years time!

  3. Yeah, I watched it...but the opening ceremony cud have been a bit better.

    Still, Loved it!!!

  4. I thought they managed to condense China's history into 75 minutes incredibly well.  There was some exceptional use of technology (plus an absolutely vast amount of technology!) and I loved the contemporary dancers painting as they danced.  The globe thing with the dancers attached to it and tumbling around it was very cool - but I liked the flying sequences at Athens in 2004 better.

  5. I really liked how it went through some of the cultural aspects of China - albeit briefly. While it might not be what you call amazingly spectacular when comparing with some other opening ceremonies, but I think it has a depth to it which emphasises the history of China quite well.

I particularly liked how they went through the 4 great inventions - paper, printing press, compass and finally gunpowder/fireworks (and what a spectacular display that was - even smiley faces!)

My favourite would probably be the way the torch was lit with the spiraled pathway for the fire. It looked magnificent.

However, it's almost impossible to capture several thousand years of history into a few hours, so it only glances the surface of a very rich culture, marred by poor leadership in the 20th century and currently, the poor publicity given to it which you can question if there are any ulterior motives... Politics ruins many things does it not? heh..

  7. I absolutely loved it.  I especially enjoyed all the dresses the women wore - they were absolutely beautiful.  The audience was very courteous to all countries when they could have sounded their disagreements with boos.  The precision of all who participated in the openings was amazing.  I also loved the lighting of the torch - it's beautiful.

  8. I loved the dancing and all the cool lighting effects!  I really liked the 2008 dancers in green bodysuits with light and at the end of their dance a 9 year old girl flew down on a kite type thing.  I also liked the dancers towards the beginning who were drawing a picture with there dancing.  Really cool culture!

  9. I watched it, I thought that it was cool.
