The news commentator took the opportunity to make some generalised statements about the Chinese nation and the chinese people. If you watched this program, did you think these comments were racist?

I agree these reports should be featured on the news, but when they make comments about Chinese people being cheats, copy cats, and fakes, I believe that is poor journalism.

I don't know about you, but I'm switching off Channel 7 from now on. Listen to the Olympics on ABC radio, and watch on SBS television.

  1. Poor journalism INDEED! Everything now a days is about ratings and I bet the channel gets a lot of replays on the specific incident you described.  Commercialization of the news media is a terrible tragedy in society today.

  2. I bet that stupid news commentator did not back up his rants about the Chinese with some examples. Could it be a little jealousy as the Chinese are raking in the gold medals and Australia only have half a hand full ? We have to give credit to these Chinese , not only did they put on a superb opening ceremony but their athletics are really doing well. Well done China

  3. Maybe the journalist didn't study journalism at all. If he did, he would know about the fair and balanced reporting etc. Maybe he was just being bitter because China has won many medals compared with Australia. In addition, we know that China is numero uno with the Gold Medals count.
