Did you watch the Discovery Channel tonight(Sun. night) about the Bible?

Did it kinda "blow your mind" what they said about the "truth" about the stories about Jesus and Noah? What did you think about it? Where did they get all this information? Surely all that couldn't have been written on slabs of stone. Any ideas? I'm pretty confused now. I realize that a lot was left out of the Bible...scriptures not found...but this really changes a lot.

  1. I guessing that you mean the segment where they found stories from other cultures that were in many aspects identical to the stories in the Bible.

Many if not most Biblical scholars and historians acknowledge that the Bible borrowed quite heavily from stories of other cultures they disagree some on which stories.

All cultures have a creation Myth we currently have one called the Big Bang which String Theory has brought into question.

The Egyptians had a  resurrection story (Osiris) before the Bible.

However, if it other people's religion is it Myth if it is your religion it is the Divine Truth of God.

I don't think it changes anything people will continue to believe just as they did after the discovery and translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Apocrypha that the King James Version of the Bible is God's perfect word despite being the most highly edited book in history and multiple translations that often were incorrect or words that simply did not translate with the same meaning.

  2. a lot of gospels and other texts were left out of the Bible, back in the 5th century. It was quite arbitrary and some of these gospels question Jesus' divinity. For me though, it doesn't change my view of Jesus. He came to us to preach peace and tolerance, love for our neighbours, if he was God's son or not. And in a way, we are all God's children.

  3. hi, na didnt see it, but i know they mite of got this info from the missing book of enoch.
