I did and I was sick to the stomach. I actually lived in northern ireland when that happened and cause it wasn't uncommon back then I barely took any notice of it (I don't mean that disrespectfully, what Im getting at is that it was basically commonplace to hear of bombs), but watching these really opened my eyes.

I cried throughout it.

I can't believe anyone would be evil enough to treat human beings like this over some stupid peace of land (I am catholic by the way), Im disgusted.

Thank god there is a different northern ireland today than there was 10 years ago.

  1. It's sad that it makes any difference that you're catholic. Does it matter which Christian or non Christian club you belong to? I didn't know that the Irish were now peaceful but if you say they are then I'm glad about that! From the outside world they did appear to fight over nothing and know nothing other than violence and hatred. It was pretty c**p when the Irish bombed other parts of Britain when their troubles were nothing at all to do with us. If that is now over then, Good!

  2. Yes it was bad wasn't it?  I don't live in Ireland but was always aware of the bombings and shootings that went on because i always followed the news..

I am just glad things have changed now over the years and there is a lot more peace instead of bloodshed.

  3. Enlightened what do you mean it was never about the British, it was ALWAYS about the British. I can't stand you "Brits" talking about how stupid we were and how pointless our fighting was or whatever. And yeah, you probably don't get it as much on the news as you used to but it's still there. All the hatred and even a good bit of the violence. And no, it's not about religion, that's just on the surface. The reason he mentioned his beliefs is for fools like you who think it was all about religion and would think that because it was the "real" IRA who set the bombs, he would be in support of the bombings by default simply by being Catholic.

I think the worst bit about it all was how the "warned" the authorities. And how the whole conflict did leave people almost unaware of what was going on. You heard of people dead and thought nothing of it. But you had no choice. You had to forget about it in order to get yourself out of bed every day, It's only now, looking back that anyone can really see how terrible it was.
