Did your ancestor run from the law?

According to the family legend this happened in my husband's family. Just after the American Civil War his great-grandfather was accused of being a horse thief. To escape the hangman he had to leave Georgia and start a new life in Arkansas.

  1. Nope. My ancestors were the law.


  2. One grand grandfather was an anarchist, another was the policeman in charge of following him and jailing him every time the kings or bishops  visited Milan (late19th century). The daughter of the policeman married the anarchist's son.

  4. My great great grandfather was a British Sailor. Sometime in the 1880's he was in Rio and it is told that he was in a some sort of fist fight, and ended up killing a man with a blow to the head. He never returned to Rio after that.  

  5. No but some uncle of mine back in the day was good to the Sioux Indians I believe there is a statue of him out there somewhere, I think he was a religious man, perhaps a bishop, I think his name was Heelan or O'Brien, not sure.

  6. No but I have heard tales about men who ran away from the Civil war.
