If so, did the petals bruise easily? What (if anything) can a florist do to avoid the petals from marking?

  1. No, mine was a pomander of cream rose.  They did bruise a little over the day.  Why not buy one and see how long it lasts?

  2. Mine didn't b/c gardenias have such a strong smell and I'm not really fond of that smell.  They do bruise very easily.  They are more delicate than a rose--though not as delicate as many other flowers like tulips or poinsettas.  I'm not really sure what a florist can do to avoid that, but you should talk to your florist about it.  Depending on what else you want, it may be fine.

I have an alternate suggestion.  I have cut gardenias in the past and merely floated them in water.  Gardenias would be beautiful scattered around the reception both on the food table since they are so small or on the tables around the centerpiece.  You could float them in small little bowls or merely scatter them right before.  When I float them in water by themselves they last for a long time.

  3. thanks

  4. No I had a bouquet of white roses with green ivy and a white orchid in the middle of the bouquet.  Gardenias are very perishable and they bruise easily.  I would reconsider gardenias in your bouquet and look for something that will hold up better.
