Did your dog ever drag his feet?

my dog is about 10 months old and he still drags his feet --- causing the knuckle area ontop his paw just past his nails -to bleed ------this happens anytime he walks on a hard surface and appears painful as he shows them too me-raising his paws:(

someone told me he would outgrow it and either the skin would toughen or he would learn to raise his feet---

is there any kind of condition that would make him drag his front paws to the point of bleeding?---- and this is both front paws -- the two center "toes"

  1. I agree with the other person that you should have this checked as soon as possible.  It is unnatural for an animal to drag its feet.  As it could not catch prey so their is a problem that needs to be corrected if possible. Best wishes for you and your dog.

  2. It could be a serious neurological problem, you should take your pup to the vet. It is not normal for any animal to do not even young puppies, and just letting the skin toughen is cruel.

  3. I know a dog that has had a  bone deformity all his life causing his feet to turn out and makes him trip over.  He is quite old now and it is getting worse along with his arthritis, making him trip up even more. An x-ray at the vets could rule out or confirm bone deformities.
