  1. Yes, my parents had decided on Catherine but my dad had a funny five minutes when he was registering me and called me Helen instead thinking it was nicer!  I'm happy with it but I don't think my mum was at the time!

  2. yes, Ashley from gone with the wind.

  3. My dad chose my name and it was not what my mom wanted. She never said more than that other than she wanted to name me Bridgette. So glad she didn't.

  4. My mum named me after a TV show lol.  There was a series on the BBC in 1971 called "Kate" (about a fictional journalist of that name, played by the actress Phyllis Calvert)

    Heres the Imdb entry:

My mum loved the series and just fell in love with the name Kate, however, my grandmother insisted she name me Katherine as in her day "Kate" was just a short form for Katherine, and not a full name, in her opinion.

So I was named Katherine and have been called Kate (for short) all my life!

My brother was named William after our dad.

My mother in law named my hubby Michael after her first boyfriend (ie not his dad! lol!) not sure how that one went down . . .

We named our son "Arthur" after the film King Arthur with Clive Owen, Keira Knightley and Ioan Gruffudd.  He's 21 months old and its so cute, really unsual for a little boy!

  5. must be because they hate me.

  6. Yes.  My mother was reading 'Little Women' when I was born, and she thought first of calling me 'Louisa' after the author, but decided that she prefered 'Louise'.

  7. They named me after twin girls that live opposite them.

  8. My brother chose my name. I don't know where he got it from though, he just liked the name.

  9. My first name after my biological father.

My middle name after my middle uncle, and my mother's favorite brother.

But my oldest sister (younger than I) was named after two fighting women in a MODERN ROMANCE magazine my mother was reading. Go figure.

  10. Yeah ma dad named me after a german actress.

and he named my brothers after various 'famous' people.

    Dont know why tho.

  11. yep  - it means 'lovable' apparently

    xx

  12. My mother had several miscarriages prior to having me and thought that she would never have children. My father was so sad that he had tears in his eyes while walking down the street one day. An elderly woman told him that tomorrow will be brighter and that the sun will shine on him. Eleven months to the day that she said that, I was born, and the named me Marisol which means "sunny one" or "child of the sun".

  13. They named me Caroline because it wasn't a weird name but it wasn't Kate or Emma or Ashley or anything too common.  If I was a boy (they chose not to know my gender till I popped out) I would have been Douglas.  Thank God I'm a girl.

I like my name, all in all.  (Caroline + Johnny has a nice ring to it don't it?  Sorry, had to ask).

  14. My mother wanted my name to be different. Hence why I'm female and have a typically male name. I don't really think she had an obsession over baby kangaroos.

If I ever had a son, I'd name him Clayton or something. After Clayton from the Women of the Otherworld series. Yeah, I'm a sucker for unusual names in good books.

  15. I really don't want to put my name on here but I was told I have a very comman name but my mother told me that it was a hurricane the year I was born and she thought the name was pretty so she name me that. but if you can guess my name their are songs with my name in it.

  16. Yep - im named after my great Aunt, who adored me but died shortly after i was born :-)

  17. yep - they said cos its different & unique

  18. Yes, I am Donna, named for mom's brother Donald who was killed in a car accident while she was carrying me!!!!!
