Question:

Did your wedding have a theme? What was the theme?

I'm just trying to get some ideas.

I'm thinking of doing either a very (VERY) informal outdoor wedding, with like herbs for all the flowers, and really simple (delicious) food, and maybe a bonfire late in the evening (do you think a bonfire is a bit much?).

Or like a big costume party for the reception. With Venitian masks. I don't know if all the guests would want to wear costumes and masks though.

I just don't want to have a super formal, stuffy kind of wedding. I want it to be lots of fun, without everyone feeling like that have to wear really formal clothes, but I still want it to be pretty and all.

  1. You're only going to let this go to the VOTERS to decide.  You never seem to care enough to pick the best answer.  Why keep asking, we ponder...

  2. If you are having a small wedding (between 4 and 65 people) the bonfire, out door thing would work I think. I like the idea of herbs as the flowers.

You could BBQ at the Bonfire too.

Anything more than 65 (and even that is stretching it I think) would just be too much.

  3. My husband and I had a Mardi Gras themed reception. We served hurricanes in hurricane glasses for each guest to take home. We had beads and masks at all the table. The decor was green, purple and gold. We served cajun shrimp pasta and jambalya with our dinner. During dinner with had traditional zydeco, cajun music playing. Each table had street signs for each street in New Orleans. It was awesome. We actually got several compliments from people saying it was the most fun reception they've ever been to because it wasn't a traditional stuffy formal reception. If you choose to go this direction, let me know cause we are selling a lot of the decor.

  4. Truthfully?  I think the informal wedding with simple, delicious food . . . followed by a bonfire . . . would be much more successful than a masked costume ball reception.

While costumes may be fun . . .

People will already be buying you wedding gifts.  They don't need or want the added expense of costumes.

  5. Well, I suppose our theme was "A Wedding" - Love and Marriage.

  6. maybe a semi casual dress code and pretty decorations with casual food like pigs in a blanked and mac and cheese and sandwiches...  maybe.

  7. My sister's wedding theme was "enchanted fairy forest." We had trees or fake trees brought in and a cobblestone looking path with little lanterns and stuff like that. The color was purple.
