Didi Hamann claims Liverpool could benefit from the absence of European football next season
Former Liverpool midfielder, Didi Hamann, has claimed that Liverpool’s absence from UEFA Europa League next year could well be a blessing in disguise for the club. He stated that the competition has now devalued and the club will be better off not playing
in it the next season.
Liverpool failed to qualify for the Europa League at the end of the season after losses to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. The Reds finished sixth on the Premier League table with 58 points.
Hamann insisted that Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the competition can work out great for them as they could now fully focus on English Premier League. He stated that the next season would be less tiring and the players would be fresh and confident
to play in the League. He added that the Merseyside giants now have a chance to end their Premier League hoodoo if they remain consistent in their performances.
“Missing out on the Europa League could be a blessing. A season without European football won't do them any harm,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German also hailed Kenny Dalglish’s impact since he arrived in January. He stated that bringing back Kenny was the best thing and the results have shown what the Scot is capable of.
He added that the club’s decision to sell http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 was also brilliant as they acquired two World-class players instead, Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. The former midfielder admitted that some quality additions would surely put the Reds in the title
race next season.
“Things didn't work out for Roy Hodgson and he said he didn't have the backing. Kenny was the man the punters wanted and they've gone from strength to strength since. It was a very shrewd move to get rid of Torres and bring in Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
They are only two or three players short of having a competitive team next year,” he concluded.
