I think he did, no man can take the multitude of power puncher from a super fighter like cotto and not get dazed even a little bit, I am not a mexican or a puerto rican so do not answer this with a racist comment, Cotto was the best fighter in that ring and i believe he deserves a rematch, a fair one this time, margaritos body looks weak no way he can be that strong naturally.

  1. At times I feel this great need to explain to people what happens in the ring.  I just don't have the time or energy.  But it is very possible to naturally do what Margarito did to Cotto.  There have been rugged fighters throughout history that have done exactly the same thing, long before steroids.

If you think Margarito was "not dazed even a little bit", then you just don't know what goes on in the ring.

  2. I AGREE, AND THEN AFTER THE FIGHT LARRY MERCHANT ASKED MARGARITO IF HE GOT HURT IN THE FIGHT, AND MARGARITO SAID "NO, I DIDNT FEEL A THING" C'MON BE REAL, IT'S EITHER HE TOOK STERIODS OF SOME SORT OR WAS OVER WEIGHT, BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY A TALLER FIGHT CAN WEIGH THE EXACT SAME AS A SHORTER FIGHTER

  3. peopleeeeeeee said that how margarito took all those punches from margarito and not suffering a brain damage...and suspecting about steroid because of that....that means that cotto also took those steroid cuz cotto took more power punches from margarito and he woke up next day as fine to good to be serious with brain damage lol but anyway i dont mean they both used steroid but i don;t think so...i think the gave us a good and clean fight but everything is possible so wait for the doping result

  4. Margarito was just the better man that night, plain and simple. He took some great shots from Cotto just like he takes from everyone he fights. The guy just has a great chin. If Margarito takes steroids then why is his frame so thin? Steroids usually add bulk. I think you're just reaching for an excuse because you sound like a Cotto fan. Just give Margarito his due. He just walked Cotto down and got to him late. Cotto has nothing to be ashamed of, he fought his heart out but he just ran into a brick wall, it happens. Same thing happened to Trinidad when he fought Hopkins.

  5. I don't think any steroids were involved.

Cotto is one of my favorite fighters.  That being said, I think Margarito defeated Cotto fairly.  Cotto did a great job trying to outbox Margarito, but Margarito just caught him with a great uppercut in round 7, to get Cotto dazed.  From there on, Margarito just started wearing Cotto out, and finally broke down Cotto in the 11th.

If you watch Margarito's fight with Cintron, you wouldn't be so surprised that Margarito took Cotto's shots.  Kermit Cintron's record is 29 wins, 27 coming by way of KO, and only 2 defeats (both coming from Margarito).  Cintron is one h**l of a hitter.  He hit Margarito with bombs.  Margarito took every one of those hits, and ultimately knocked Cintron out.

On top of all of that, Cotto has been rocked a few times in the chin in past fights such as against DeMarcus Corley, and against Ricardo Torres, where he almost got knocked-out.

Cotto is still a great fighter, and will comeback strong.  Until then, everyone should just give Margarito his credit, and see if he can avenge his lost to Paul Williams and unify the welterweight titles.

  6. Cotto wasnt the best fighter in the ring maybe the better boxer but no way was he the better fighter, wasnt you watching he got beat and quite badly at that, Cottos conditioning wasnt good enough to last 12 and his chin wasnt able to take the big shots as everybody thought although it took quite a hammering. I also really cant see Cotto beating Margarito in a rematch and that would be if he wanted to step back in with someone who beat him so badly.

Margarito fights like that in every fight he has ever been in, he is reknown for his iron chin and also for his come forward relentless pressure fighting style, if he is on steds then he has been on them since the start of his career because he has always been like that check out his highlight reel and you will see that he has hit other fighters even harder than he hit Cotto and took a multitude of punches in big fights and not even blinked. All i can say to you is that you obviously havent seen many Mexican fighters in action before as the majority fight in a simular style to Margarito and also have simular frames. Cotto might of looked physically stronger but his conditioning was no where near that of Margaritos, having a muscular frame usually leads to stamina problems this is why boxers dont do as much weight training as people think.

  7. Chicago, if you're overweight then the fight gets cancelled   it's that simple. And if the fight does not get cancelled (ala Castillo vs Corrales ) then it becomes a non-title fight. And as for his chin, if you ever saw any of Margarito's fights ( Cintron, Diaz, Santos, etc.) then you would've known that he is known for having a cast iron chin. If Cotto was the best fighter that night he would've won. Don't you know that fighters are tested after every fight ? That's how they caught Mosley after his fight with DeLaHoya, Toney, Vargas etc. Face it Cotto  was beaten by a fighter that at the weigh-in weighed exactly what Cotto weighed and if he put on extra weight after the weigh-in it is not against commission rules.Cotto could have done the same thing and might just have done the same thing had he chosen to do so.As Teddy Atlas said last night on Wednesday Night Fights--" I don't think there'll be a rematch, and if there is Margarito will knock him out sooner." Who do you think will be more confident (not OVERCONFIDENT) in a rematch ? A fighter who just tasted defeat for the first time and hit his opponent with his shots with no affect or one who took his opponents best shots and just kept coming and eventually  broke his opponents will ? It happened to Cintron in the rematch and it'll happen again with Cotto. He just met his match.Think of this---even if Margarito hadn't knocked Cotto out he would've won the decision-he was ahead on two score cards even on one and MUCH stronger then Cotto at the time of the stoppage.
