Both Didier Deschamps and Andre Ayew have said that they will not be looking to lose against Montpellier tonight just to make sure that PSG don’t win the title
Ending a terrible series of 11 games without a single win is what is more important to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 than to lose yet again against a team just to make the task of lifting the Championelle even harder for bitter rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
Two groups of Marseille supporters have called the OM players to lose the game against Montpellier Herault tonight in order to give them a three-point lead over Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG and Marseille share a fierce rivalry. With Marseille set to host Montpellier tonight, fans would be pleased to see their team lose against Montpellier which is a rarity indeed given the current circumstance.
Les Phoceens have forgotten how to win and according to some fans, another defeat won’t hurt especially if it indirectly hurts their sworn enemies.
However, Didier Deschamps is refusing to go with this. Though he knows that seeing PSG lift the Championelle would be unbearable, the French tactician knows that his side needs to return to winning ways.
“For me as a coach, it’s impossible for me to prepare my team by telling my players to play the game and don’t win, let alone lose. I never work like this.”
Andre Ayew also echoed his manager’s sentiments and says that his team will not enter the field just to make up numbers and totally refused the possibility of his side coming bearing gifts tonight.
“We’re professionals, we know that we still have two matches this week and the most important is that of Saturday. If we lose, it will be only if Montpellier deserved to win. We will remain professional and try to build confidence before the final.”
Though Ayew understands that fans do not want to see PSG as champions, the Ghanaian knows that his side should not enter the field of play with a negative mentality as the team is already under so much pressure.
Furthermore, a defeat is out of the question considering the fact that Marseille will be playing the final of the Coupe de la Ligue on Saturday.
