The Olympique de Marseille coach feels that his side was denied two penalties in the 2-1 defeat against Lorient and says that his side didn’t deserve to lose
On Friday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Gourcuff’s Lorient that beat them 2-1. The win moves Les Merlus further away from relegation worries and leaves Marseille with 13 games without a win, a stat that
no one could have predicted when the campaign started.
L’Equipe called the Rhone side’s performance as the missing radar while La Provence defined yet another defeat as “Descent into h**l.”
Certainly, Les Phoceens are finding that winning games could be the hardest thing for a side whose confidence has been drained out.
However, coach Didier Deschamps was not happy with some of the refereeing decisions during the game. The Frenchman said that for a coach, it is bad to see his players facing injustice. The former Juventus coach said that there were two blatant penalties
which were not called.
“The worst resentment of a coach facing his players is injustice. There were two blatant penalties in our favour that were not called. This is not an excuse but it happens a lot. I’m not asking for favours but what must be whistled, must be whistled.”
Deschamps then went on to say that the same happened with his team when they lost against Bordeaux. There were two clear-cut penalties but the referee chose not to award them to Marseille.
Certainly, Deschamps is feeling hard done by due to officials.
“In our situation, when you have to suffer injustice, it gets complicated.”
Although Deschamps admits that there have been games where his team did not deserve to win, he says that he has tried to stay calm but there are limits to his control as well.
On Wednesday, Marseille play against Nancy Lorraine and Deschamps is hopeful that his team is not hard done by when they face a side that is already in great form at the moment.
Things are not going well at all for the Rhone side and refereeing decisions have definitely played a big role in their winless run.
