http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 has come under severe criticism after failing to replicate his club form to the international arena.
However, coach, Didier Deschamps feels that the former Lyon player has what it takes to survive at this level. Despite not scoring on a regular basis for Les Bleus, the coach has full confidence in Benzema’s abilities and has backed the striker to shine
against the reigning World and European champions on Tuesday.
Praising the 24-year-old, the coach added that Les Bleus are lucky to have players like Benzema and Ribery in their ranks, and these players can take France to the top.
"Everyone always expects a lot from them (Benzema and Ribery), and they can take the team to the top. They have this quality, talent to make a difference,"
The 44-year-old added that the Real Madrid striker has improved a lot over the last couple of years, and judging him over his lack of goals for the national side is harsh. No one denies his potential and goalscoring ability, and Deschamps wants fans to be
patient with the Frenchman.
"I spoke with Karim, and if you want to question his potential, it must be at the heart of a season.”
Talking about Benzema’s style of play, the former Monaco coach added that the player likes to track back and get more involved in the game.
On a question regarding France’s tactics of playing with a lone striker, Deschamps said that if Spain can play without a striker at all, Les Bleus’ decision of playing with a single striker is justified.
“He is not a player who remains in the box. Is he too lonely in attack? Del Bosque has invented 4-6-0, this does not prevent the Spanish team from being effective."
Praising their Tuesday’s opponents, the coach stated that La Roja have won so many titles in recent times, and they are the best team in the world at the moment.
"Yes, they are the best, because nobody has won what Spain have won.”
