At the heart of one of the worst crisis in sports history, Olympique de Marseille will face Olympique Lyonnais in the final of the Coupe de La Ligue. The match is Didier Deschamps’ side’s last chance to save the season
Tonight, Stade de France will see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 play the final of this season’s Coupe de La Ligue. The final could be Didier Deschamps’ last high point with OM. The Rhone giants are currently in complete disarray and are twelve
games without a win in all competition.
However, a win over their provincial neighbours could save their season. Furthermore, the win in the final would be their third consecutive Coupe de la Ligue triumph.
In a news conference at the Stade de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, Didier Deschamps was far from being in top form when he appeared in front of the journalists.
From the outset, Deschamps spoke about his affection towards the Marseille fans who have stuck by the club under such tough circumstances.
“The reception and proximity with people who love OM has been great. Our morale is not low, but if one has the right idea of winning a title, it will be beneficial for the rest of the season. Motivation will be there and we will do everything to defend our
chances tomorrow.”
A few days back, left-back Jeremy Morel had an altercation with Stephane Mbia. A few days later, ahead of the match against Montpellier, the former Lorient man refused to start the game saying that he did not feel like starting the game. However, Deschamps
chose not to talk about it and instead spoke about Loic Remy and Cesar Azpilicueta whose participation in the final was in doubt.
Deschamps says both players are likely to play against Lyon.
“Loic has just done a bit of running on Thursday. I will provide an update after practise. There is no problem with Azpi. He returned to practice Thursday.”
At the heart of such a poor run, OM would still be looking to make a game of it when they face in-form Lyon. The final would be Deschamps’ last ever chance to win silverware for Marseille this season which makes things more interesting.
