Didier Deschamps hopeful of Olympique de Marseille comeback – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 coach Didier Deschamps believes that Les Phoceens still have a chance to bounce back in the Championelle after a woeful start to the new Ligue 1 campaign.
Marseille are yet to taste victory in the 2011/12 Ligue 1 Championnat. The Rhone club lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 2-0 in their last Ligue 1 game at Stade de Gerland. Les Phoceens are placed at the bottom of the 2011/12 Ligue 1 standings.
The former Juventus coach says that there is a chance of recovery for his side. In an interview to French publication, Le Parisien, the 42-year-old was quoted saying, “I feel sadness and disappointed, but I believe in my players. We must have the character
to turn things around in order to return to better days. The team must show character and personality to hope for better results.”
The French tactician further added that although Marseille had a disastrous start to the domestic championship, they must ignore the current standing. The Rhone club have only taken three points in six days of Ligue 1 games. Deschamps said that the team
must not take pressure due to the current standings but focus on the upcoming challenges.
The Cote d'Azur-based club have an eleven-point deficit from the current leaders, Olympique Lyon. The Former captain of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 said that Les Phoceens have not won many points so far. There are still 96 points to fight for which means that all is not lost
for the Rhone giants. However, Marseille will have to return to winning ways quickly in order to mount a title assault.
The Rhone club’s immediate step is to win the next game against Evian TG at Stade Velodrome in Week 7 of Ligue 1 championship. Didier Deschamps believes that Les Phoceens will not require a big win to boost their confidence but a maiden win in the 2011/12
Ligue 1 Championelle against the rookies would result in a curse breaker.
Regarding the morale at the Marseille camp, the Bayonne-born tactician said, “We must make sure to maintain the solidarity and the mental qualities that exist [in the camp]. These are adverse conditions for the club that we cannot ignore.”
Olympique de Marseille still have a chance to bounce back in the Championnat and like Les Gones, who were in similar situation last season, can turn the wheel of fate with hard work and concentration in order to reach the podium.
