The former World Cup winner is reportedly looking to end his time at the Stade Velodrome despite having a good two years left on his current deal
Olympique de Marseille coach, Didier Deschamps is under contract at the club until 2014. However, all of this is theory it seems as in reality, the Frenchman wants to leave the club a couple of years before his deal at the Velodrome expires.
Since the end of the 2011/2012 campaign, Deschamps has been heavily linked with a departure. However, for now, the former Juventus manager lacks attractive offers.
L’Equipe claims that the Bayonnais-born coach still wants to pack up due to two main reasons. First, DD knows that he will not have enough transfer kitty to buy players of his choice this summer. Already, Les Phoceens are set to let go of a few star players
in the squad in order to reduce the burden on the payroll.
Missing out on Champions League football for next season is a big blow for the club and Deschamps does not want to be part of a club that will struggle to attract fresh talent.
Secondly, the former AS Monaco coach is not happy with the management. Despite having good relations with Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, the club’s major shareholder, Deschamps has never really enjoyed the best of relations with sporting director Jose Anigo. The
duo hasn’t spoke for over a year after publicly criticising eachother.
Moreover, Deschamps has started having minor differences with president Vincent Labrune who is not able to decide between him and Anigo.
Seeing Didier Deschamps leave Marseille would certainly not be a huge surprise as he was already touted for an exit since the turn of the new year.
For their part, OM management continue to claim that Deschamps will stay at the club for next season. While talking to reporters last night, Labrune said that Didier Deschamps will stay for next season.
“For me and Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, who is very involved with the club, Didier Deschamps is the coach of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 and will resume his duties next Monday.”
However, behind the scenes, Les Phoceens are looking at the profiles of Antoine Kombouare, Eric Gerets and Elie Baup (former Bordeaux coach) which means that Deschamps may still leave the club despite lacking offers of his choice.
