Didier Deschamps still under a lot of pressure – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 coach Didier Deschamps did not expect the current campaign to go the way it has so far this season. 10th in the Ligue 1 standings with just 18 points, Les Phoceens should not be expected to make a late title assault this
time around.
Furthermore, below par performances such as the defeat at home to Olympiakos in the Champions League encounter a few nights back have shown that the current squad has a lot of problems.
Things went from bad to worse for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 98 World Cup winner when he had a not-so-polite exchange of words with Andre-Pierre Gignac, a striker who is clearly frustrated at being played second fiddle to every player in the Marseille roster.
Club president Vincent Labrune came to the aid of his coach in the columns of La Provence when he said, “I say and repeat, we do not do anything without a reason. There is no need to extrapolate or exaggerate anything.”
The altercation between Deschamps and Gignac was witnessed by the rest of the players who chose not to react. And for good reason, since, according to the sports daily, many think that Deschamps is far from innocent at what is happening with the management
of the team.
Some say that his managerial techniques are not intense enough. Furthermore, the coach seems to have lost a few members in the dressing rooms which is just a sign of things that could happen at the club. Jose Anigo, who blatantly hit out at Deschamps a few
weeks back is not making any more media appearances.
Already weakened and under-morale due to consistently poor displays, Marseille are not dealing things the way they should off the field.
With this season’s first Clasico on the horizon when Les Phoceens host bitter rivals Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Velodrome in Week 15 of the Ligue 1 Championnat, Marseille should do something about all the domestic issues that are bound to affect the
players.
Apart from Vincent Labrune, no one is really behind Deschamps which clearly means that the former Juventus coach must find a way to somehow pull the team together in order to recover from early setbacks.
