Didier Drogba, Arsene Wenger behind Manchester City defender Kolo Toure after failed drug test

The Ivorian International insisted the whole incident was a mistake and he did not believe Toure had intended to cheat in any way. The news
emerged last week that the Manchester City defender had tested positive for a banned substance because of which he had been suspended.
The 29-year-old City defender has not yet given a statement regarding the incident, but his brother Yaya Toure and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger came to his defense. The French manager, who managed the player at Arsenal for 7 years from 2002 to 2009, said he
believed the player had taken his wife’s slimming tablets which had caused the failed drug test.

Drogba said while speaking to reporters, “It would be very difficult for us if something like this happens. I think we all know how stupid it was, the mistake, and I don't think he did it to improve his performance.”
The Blues' star revealed he felt sorry for Toure, whom he considered to be an important and experienced player. He promised his support to the troubled player and said there wasn’t much to do except wait for the decision on the ban. He continued, “I think
it was just a mistake and we feel sorry for him and he has all our support, and that's the maximum we can do.”
Drogba said he had recently spoken to Toure and revealed the defender was understandably upset over the situation. The Ivory Coast captain said he agreed with what the Arsenal boss had said, he continued, “I spoke to him and he was down, but that is normal.
He said it was just a mistake. There's not a big difference between what is said by Arsene Wenger and what he said (to me).”
Manchester City have remained somewhat quite on the issue but have claimed to be behind Toure every step of the way.
