Didier Drogba, Jose Bosingwa and Daniel Sturridge Return For The Blueschelsea

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he was delighted to welcome several of his missing first team players back to the squad, just in time for the clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers today. Striker Didier Drogba was the most notable player absent from
last weekend’s fixture with Aston Villa, which saw Chelsea stumbling to a draw. They did improve in mid week in Europe, securing a 2-0 away win over Spartak Moscow, but now welcome back the Ivoirian striker in hopes of returning to winning ways.
Last week Drogba joined the already growing list of injured players like, Frank Lampard, Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge, Yossi Benayoun and Jose Bosingwa. Drogba was sidelined with a fever and Ancelotti felt it would be better to rest his star striker.
However, the Italian manager now welcomes back his star striker and told reporters in a press conference, “He has trained well this week and he is able to play.” In addition to Drogba, Ancelotti welcomes back his Portuguese full back, Jose Bosingwa.
Bosingwa has been missing from action for more than a year, after a serious knee injury which turned out to be worse than originally thought. However, the defender has been declared fit and will most likely start the weekend game against Wolves. Ancelotti
told reporters, “Tomorrow Bosingwa will start from the beginning and this is very good news. Everyone is excited about seeing him play and I hope everything will be okay of him. After one year we have to be patient with him but he had a fantastic period of
training and he is fit 100 per cent.”
The Blues will be delighted to have the Portuguese defender back in action; Bosingwa is an important part of the team with his quick pace and skill with the ball. Bosingwa is a modern day full back, not only does he fulfill his duties at the back; he occasionally
goes forward and acts as provider for the front line. Ancelotti will be hoping that Bosingwa does not suffer any difficulty upon his return, especially after his lengthy time off. Ashley Cole and Bosingwa on either flank will mean that Chelsea will have a
lot more width as compared to before.
Daniel Sturridge has recovered from an ankle injury and has been made available for selection, it is a possibility that the young striker will start on the bench against Wolves. Brazilian defender Alex and midfielder Ramires are still out though, with a
thigh and ankle injury respectively. Their injuries were sudden and unexpected, and it was originally thought that they’d be out for much longer but it was revealed that both the players would be returning to training next week.
Ancelotti also revealed that England midfielder Frank Lampard was much closer to a recall, he said, “Now he is training individually and everything is okay, he is training very well. The next step will be to train with the team during the training session
and after to play. It was not an easy problem and we don't want to take a risk. I don't think he will be able to play from the beginning against Blackburn [Saturday 30th October] but I think the game after that he can play.”
Lampard has been missing from action for a while now, and close to his return he suffered a groin injury which meant he had to be rested further. However, he seems to be closer to fitness and will most likely make his return in the Champions League home
fixture against Spartak Moscow on November 3 or against Liverpool on November 7 in the English Premier League. The return of Lampard will be a big boost to the team; the midfielder has established himself over the years and his absence has been felt over the
past few fixtures.
