Didier Drogba: Chelsea their own worst opponents in the Premier League
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has said his team's biggest threat in the Premier League could prove to be themselves.
Carlo Ancelotti's team lead the Premier League with 25 points from ten games, five points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United. Chelsea also a goal difference of 24, twice that of Arsenal.
The team, who have won three league titles since 2005, defeated Arsene Wenger's team on 3 October but failed to convince away to Manchester City in September, where a sub-par performance saw them lose
1–0.
"Really, to be honest, our most difficult opponent is us," Drogba confessed to reporters. "If we lose points like last year we could be in trouble again. It is down to us to keep winning and keep increasing
the gap."
Chelsea won the domestic title last season, but only after letting their lead at the top of the table slip after losing to City and drawing Blackburn Rovers in March.
Drogba: Must win every game
Since their recent defeat to City, Chelsea have recorded three wins and one draw in the league. The Ivorian said he hopes his team can retain their stability in their upcoming fixtures.
"It is not easy to win every game in the season but that’s what we have to do. After a difficult result like we had against Manchester City, we had to improve and we did, which is what we have to achieve."
Chelsea's next league game comes against Liverpool on Sunday, 7 November.
Roy Hodgson's team are currently in 13th place in the league after struggling to find their form at the start of the season, but Drogba insisted that a trip to Anfield is never an easy feat.
"I’m not sure it’s a good time to go there. They’re a strong team and we have to be ready because the one thing you know about Liverpool is that it is a difficult game. They have won their last two games
and their confidence will be higher."
