Didier Drogba: I want to stay at Chelsea for the rest of my career
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has revealed that he wants to stay at the club for the rest of his playing career.
Drogba signed a new three-year contract with the club last season, which will keep him at Chelsea until the end of the 2011/12 season. He has played just under 200 games for the side and has been with
Chelsea since 2004.
Drogba says he has settled into West London life and can see himself living in the capital long after he retires from the game. He says no reason to seek out a move to any other club.
"I'd love to stay at Chelsea, that's what I'm trying to do.
It is good for me, this is the first time I have stayed so long in a club and everything is made for me to stay and end my career here," Drogba said in the
News of the World newspaper.
Drogba suggests that there are so many parts of his life, which are now tied into London and England. Although he has admitted in the past that he misses France, it's geographically
easy for him to visit.
"The family is settled here, the children love it at their schools and it
would be very difficult to change them from this place. Everybody is happy here. I like London a lot and, if I miss something, I can still nip back to France," he
added.
There have already been suggestions within some media circles that Drogba could have a career at Chelsea once he stops playing. He is still one of the most powerful strikers
in Europe and doesn't seem afraid to voice his opinion and rubbish claims that Chelsea is an old side.
"People mention that we are an old side, but being 32 or 33 now is not the
same as being 32 or 33 ten years ago," he said.
Betting advice
Drogba will always be an important player for Chelsea and he will always be a very good bet to score against any opponent. He still has a big role to play in West London and
will score plenty more goals.
