Chelsea’s ace striker, Didier Drogba has admitted the fact that he is not performing at his best currently, because he has suffered from a number of injuries and malaria this season. The player added that at the same time, the
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 dressing room has become an unhappy place due to the recent slump in the team’s form.
The Ivorian striker had been the league’s leading goal scorer prior to picking up an injury and then realizing that he was suffering from malaria. Ever since he made a return to the side, he has seemed to be way below his normal
par. However, it would be rather harsh to state that just the striker was performing below par, as that story holds true for almost every player at Stamford Bridge.
The player is reported to have said, "Injuries and the malaria have damaged my performances. I am still not 100% but I am fighting in each match to improve my playing levels and help the team."
"This season has been complicated for me by physical problems.
"It has not been easy to regain my strength but we need the points and my presence is necessary. I have always sacrificed for the team - and Chelsea need me."
Chelsea have gone on to slip from the top spot in the league and have even managed to now drop out of the Champions League spot. The 32-year-old forward, however, stated that there was very little difference in the points, when
compared to last season. However, he went on to add that there is a sense of negativity in the air, because the team was picking up far too many injuries this season and were even scoring a lot less this term.
The player then ended by saying, "In the last weeks Carlo Ancelotti has been unhappy - and the squad, too. Chelsea are not accustomed to defeats and the dressing room has suffered.
"But the season is long and it is normal to suffer lots of changes."
With Drogba coming forth and admitting that he needs to up his game, he might have just set an example for the rest of the Chelsea squad. If every player on the team manages to do the same, then it would not be long before the
team manages to pick up their pace and head back to the top of the table. However, at the moment, the team is a long way from doing that and it needs to do a lot of work before they can consider themselves as title contenders once again.
