Chelsea caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo has revealed he was prepping for the UEFA Champions League final when he played http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385.
The duo started on the bench against Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League, but were brought on together towards the end of the game. They did well together, linking up to ensure the Blues secured a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas as manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo has never started Drogba and Torres together. However, with the UEFA Champions League final looming ahead, the Italian manager will need all the options he has available.
Di Matteo said in an interview:
“I tried a few things to just have a look and see how it could work out. It's always difficult because obviously it's going to be a different opposition.
But I've been trying to figure out a few things.”
While it is highly unlikely Roberto Di Matteo will risk partnering Drogba and Torres in the final of the Champions League since their statistics together are not the best, it is a remote possibility. Especially since the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss has injuries and suspensions
to deal with.
Along with three potential injuries, Di Matteo will be missing four players due to suspension, amongst who is Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895. Terry was one of the goal scorers against Blackburn Rovers in the 2-1 win and the defender revealed he was extremely
pleased with his goal.
Terry said:
“I am delighted with seven. I rose up and it was a decent header, I was delighted with it, and I was pleased with the performance as a whole.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain admitted he was glad his side had ended the season with a win, especially after their disappointing display against Liverpool earlier on. He revealed his side were now looking forward to the upcoming clash against Bayern Munich
in the UEFA Champions League.
He continued:
“It's always good to end the league season with a win, especially bouncing back after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the week as well.
Now we go into a huge week and we can start concentrating on Munich.”
